The Lady I Met

By Abdul Mutallib Muktar Read and shed your own tears. To be frank and candid, the lady is naturally well structured. She is comely and beautifully young-looking. She is sheen and shapely looking that is quite attractive, and having what it needs for a lady to have. These unique and unchallenged qualities made her a magnet of attention in the world. Men who are financially buoyant, walking flamboyantly with their noses in the air, also date her. However, and sadly unfortunate, the lady was born by a reckless, feckless and careless parent who later on, for their greediness, desperation and promiscuity gangraped this spotless virgin and left her, thereby becoming dirtier and murkier than the murkiest maggot in the market of leftovers. This lady is pitiably bleeding uncontrollably till date. Blood is excessively flowing like Panama Canal. She is severely sick now. Though, after the irresponsible parent left her, she was taken care of by men of appreciable degree of integrity and r...

A Flashback

Abdul Mutallib Muktar Part one Any memory of the past either makes man mild or miserable. My mind flashbacks the past, almost six years now— anytime I remember—I silently smile. When one sees my face, he/she may sense what I reminisce. Indeed, it was nostalgic smile like that of Ben Carson when he recalls his childhood period at Elementary School, Detroit. Of course, it is quite easy for one to flashback but really difficult to foreshadow. I vividly remember my days that were taken over by the rotation of the earth on its axis and revolution on the orbit. Not actually denying the adage which goes: what has passed, had, of course, passed and should be ignored, the future is what matters. However, I believe that the past is a compendium of lessons to the wise. In junior secondary school, I had struggled and tried my best to compose very short stories, write essays, articles and above all, letters. I did always send them to my teachers, when they perused them, they would fin...

The Terrible Days in Plateau State

Abdul Mutallib Muktar Rikkos. The bitterly created and frightening memories in Plateau State, particularly in the great city of Jos, without any iota of doubt, were indelible, regrettable and painfully trying. Those sorrowfully scaring days landed Jos and Plateau into a chamber of horror; people from other states were earnestly afraid to be at any part of the state. Those miserable and nightmarish experiences characterized by genocide, massacre and large scale destructions were doubtlessly not unconnected with the disruption of political, economic and social developments in the state. I oftentimes use to imagine what the state would/could had become without the eruption of any crisis. It is a well known fact that the past is an unbreakable mirror; whenever one needs to make up his/her face, a clean mirror is needed. Similarly, when one needs to adjust his present and set a concrete future, he/she must trace back to history. Though, it is said: what had passed is past already, and th...

The Era of Hatred

Abdul Mutallib Muktar It will really be reasonable, vital and paramount to start by citing an instance that is actually relevant to this thought-provoking article. Common sense would, in fact, tell everyone that for one to drive out darkness, one must surely use light. This shows how senseless and silly it would be when one continue to struggle against darkness by using yet another darkness instead of light. Same applicable to hatred which stands as the focal point of my writing. Hatred cannot be driven out by hatred; only love can do that, no matter how. The stark reality shows how Nigerian 21st century era is characterised by hatred and disunity which brought up the title, 'The Era of Hatred'. It is doubtless and indisputably known by all and sundry here in this country that hatred becomes an inferno that virtually gutted everywhere. Stupidity and silliness has made us disintegrated ourselves out of ourselves. We have violently hammered the sharp nail of hatred into our h...

Northern Nigerian Youths: Our Asset Or Liability?

https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/northern-youths-assets-or-liability.html It is worrisome and very unfortunate that our beloved society that should be producing greater number of productive and serious-minded people is continuesly turning into a kind of society that produces troublesome and irresponsible youths who become nuisance to the lives of the entire people of the society. I wonder why this is so much common in the north, and deteriorating by every second as it remains unchecked and uncontrolled. It seems there is collapse of social institutions. One everyday hears of youths who fight themselves fiercely and madly - by extension, they kill themselves or cause serious injury - mostly under the influence of deadly drug abuse which they made themselves addicted to. Most times, these youths start their fight from  parties over stupid girlfriends or some flimsy reasons. On most occasions, during this outrageous acts which I vehemently condemn with all sincerity, the innocent be...

As We Await 2019

Abdul Mudallib Muktar It is undeniably true that many Nigerians are gradually becoming so gullible; having already being brainwashed by the  sharp-fallacy-tongue of politiCIANS who instead cheat POLITICALLY.  Many of us are turned into a ball being kicked by different shoes from different angles to different corners. Just very few amongst us who resist the so-called brain-destabilization can their eyes penetrate through darkness. I want to publicly make this known to those power-drunken politicians that, it is not all they can brainwash through their agents of propaganda and to let my compatriots notice the evil they are plotting to continue in the corridors of power in 2019 and even ahead. As everyone clearly notices the clashes and clanging of politicians' matches presently going on between them, to bring all combustible materials and substances to light the fire of their campaign sooner than later, I assure you, they will do anything humanly possible to bring back the...

On Addressing the Almajiri Issue

The situation is getting worse every day. For long, I have been avidly trying to write about this issue that has turned to a disaster rather than a blessing to our country because of the changes brought by modernity and perhaps, how it is mispractised and mishandled. It is an issue that should be on the drill of urgency to be addressed. The  phenomenon of almajiranci is contemporarily having what the sociologists called 'the latent or unintended consequence of social action'. Meaning: the result of the action is not what is intended. Historically, almajiranci used to be very important, a pure practice and, of course, had greatly influenced and enhanced the Qur'anic memorisation in the north. This can't be denied. However, the direction of the journey has taken another dimension due to social changes that are continuously taking place. Nowadays, one finds a very young kid pitiably wandering to get leftover as against the cardinal reason which he is sent for. The urch...
